The Chimpz Interview

1. How was it recording The Chimpz album Who Can We Trust? It was great! We teamed up with the amazing and talented Producer Ryan Green. Whose worked with Jay Z, Patti Labelle, Megadeth, NOFX, and much more. We wrote those songs as a team effort, even making some changes on the spot. We all worked hard together to make the songs the best they could be.

2. Where did most of the influences come from for this album? Each of the band members personal influences, which some are similar, I.E. Faith No More, Snot, Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies and many more. Also Ryan greens influences when it came to making re-arrangements from his experience as a Producer.

3. What are The Chimpz current endorsements? Sullen Clothing, Outlaw Threadz, Anarchy Eyewear, Jagermeister, Schecter Guitars, Coffin Cases, Sabian Cymbals, Bogner Amplification, Equation Audio, Audio 2000’s, Hardluck Kings, Asahi Beer, Kubi Snowboards.

4. Any tour dates lined up soon for The Chimpz? Hell yeah, tons. Too many to answer in this interview, unless you don’t mind us taking up a few pages, lol! But right now, we’re booked through Cali, Mexico, Arizona, and plans for the Midwest and East Coast are coming. You can go LIKE our facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/chimpznation and click on concert schedule and can also see tour schedule at http://www.reverbnation.com/thechimpz

5. Would you say that Social Media is a great way to attract attention towards bringing in new crowds to concerts? There’s definitely a lot of sites that can help with this. Facebook seems to work great to get the word where everybody can see and share our updates and anything they’d like to find out about the band. Of course building fans on there as well. So everyone keep LIKING our Facebook page.

6. What do you think of promo videos and its importance now? They’re always helpful and important. People do like watching videos, whether for entertainment or to find out news and info. Check out our YouTube channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/thechimpz?feature=watch, it’s got all our music videos, tour footage, just hilarious clips and more. Of course not just for promo, but to keep things entertaining online as well.

7. What could we find interesting in your music collection at home? Hmm, hard to pick one thing. But I could pick the song “Corrupt” off the album “Who Can I Trust” has the legendary Bruce Bouillet from Racer X with Paul Gilbert, G3 Tour and more on the solo of the song “Corrupt”!! Check it out!!

8. Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life as a musician? Well I’m Scary Cary the Lead Guitarist, so in order to bring the heat and keep up the crazy solo’s and killer riffs for current or new material I try and practice about 8-10 hours a day including fitting in some composing new material in there. I do errands on Sunday, lol!!

9. How is the Music scene in your area today? It’s cool, we meet some bands through shows that are pretty kick ass and are some killer musicians. But LA’s a metropolitan city, so a lot of forms of entertainment, ie, movie, premiers, comedy shows, plays, and just a busy city. So we really do like to venture out and see what kind of new music and bands are popping up in other towns and other scenes.

10. Any words for future musicians? If you love what you do, playing your instrument, whether guitar, bass drums, vocals, or other and you want to do this as a business, always hustle and work hard and things will pay off. Also I would also say play music you like don’t ever join a band because they’ve got money or have fans, join them because you like the music and if you want to be creative then make sure you have that option. You’ll be happier in the long run.
