Fero Lux Interview with “Post hardcore / Mathcore” singer Victor. FERO LUX is a “post-hardcore/mathcore” band from south Florida. Formed in late 2010. We cannot be killed.

Fero Lux Interview

– What’s new in the world of Fero Lux?
Right now, we’re working on self booking a bunch of regional tours in the southeast over Spring and into Summer. We’ve got a Florida run in two weeks and heading up to Georgia and Alabama in May. Hopefully a little further if we can swing it! We’re just going to keep promoting our new record, “NO REST”, until our next release, which we’ve already begun writing!

– How was it recording your album No Rest?
It was really fun. We recorded in West Palm Beach, Florida with Dan Colombo of Ice Man Studios. He’s a great dude, hilarious and buff as hell.

– Where did the ideas come out from for the album artwork?
We actually didn’t have a real direction. We hired an artist named Britta of The Outlet Epoch. She worked on our friends band’s album and it looked sweet. They’re called The Thieving Hand, check them out! We just told Britta to listen to the record and express what it made her feel. We’re stoked with the outcome.

– Vinyl is making a great comeback. Do you have a personal preference?
Vinyl is sweet as hell, but expensive to print on your own (thanks, Choke Artist!). It’s a great collector’s item for sure, and a lot of people prefer the “warmer” sounds from vinyl. I personally prefer CD’s over anything. I’m from the 80’s, dude.

Videos, Tours, Spotify, Future

– Making videos for the band — is it one of the most important things to do now with music with promotions?
I think a video definitely helps with promotion. We’ve been lucky enough to do some pretty sweet music videos with literally no budget thanks to some great friends. Most recently Steven Vazquez of Red City. Everything can be found on the internet these days, so you definitely need to have all of your bases covered.

– Do you have any tours coming up in the near future?
In April we’re doing a run of all Florida dates. And in May we’ll be in Georgia and Alabama. Hopefully in early summer we’ll be heading out longer. Sooner than Summer if anyone wants to bring us out with them. ;)

– Is the band fans of Spotify and similar streaming services? What are your thoughts on this?
We are! Spotify, iTunes, Google Music, Bandcamp. All of the above. I personally have never used Spotify or any similar platform. It’s cool because at any instant someone can check us out, but like I said, I’m a sucker for a physical copy of the stuff I listen to.

– In your opinion, which album would be essential to have if someone were stranded on a deserted island?
Oh snap. Umm… there once was a band from northern Florida called Buffalo Buffalo. They made my favorite record ever. It’s called Coping Systems. It’s melodic, and beautiful, catchy and kind of abrasive. It has everything I want to hear.

– Therefore Where do you see music in general going in 100 years from now?
Mosh pits on the moon, baby.

Thanks for your time! -Victor // FERO LUX
