Alyssa Morrissey Interview
1. How is it going in the music world?
It is going really good right now! Lost of exciting things happening and Im having a lot of fun writing and working in the studio.
2. How was it recording Way To Go in the studio with Matt Williams?
I recorded Way To Go down in Nashville actually last year! That was an amazing experience. My first time working in the studio with Matt was for Make Love Tonight and we had a lot of fun writing and recording that one! We really wanted to push the envelope a bit with that one and we are really happy with how it turned out.
3. How would you describe a day in the studio?
A day in the studio for me involves lots of tea and water! But more importantly lots of laughs. I think its important to step into the studio with a cheerful attitude, that definitely comes across in the songs.
4. This summer do you have many shows scheduled?
Yes I do! A few festivals and private events and then a couple big shows that I will be announcing soon!
5. Could you describe some of your early influences?
Some of my early influences I would have to say would be Shania Twain, Amanda Marshall and Avril Lavigne.
6. What would be some of your main influences today?
I have a lot of influences today but two different artists that I really admire for their work would have to be Jennifer Nettles and Taylor Swift.
7. How many hours a day do you spend on social media to promote your works?
Everyday varies, but I would say about a couple hours a day.
8. What could we find interesting in your music collection at home?
I like to listen to a lot of mellow intimate music in my spare time. Some of my favorite bands right now are The Lumineers, Mumford And Sons, John Mayer and Ed Sheeran.
9. Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life as a musician on tour?
I haven’t had a lot of experiences being on tour yet, but from the little that I have had I like to listen to lots of different music while I’m getting ready and preparing myself to perform. It gives me inspiration. I also don’t like to eat much before I go on, I save the feasting for after the show!
10. Where do you see music in general going in 100 years from now?
Honestly the music industry is forever changing and its really hard to say! It could be anything from some crazy futuristic stuff to something that was maybe popular hundreds of years ago! Whatever it may be, I hope there’s still some Country mixed in there!
