Tesla Live on July 29, 2023, Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods Resort Casino, Mashantucket, CT, USA
It’s Saturday night, and it’s time to rock with the California-based band Tesla. Tesla opened up their set with tunes like “Modern Day Cowboy” and “No Way Out.” Guitarist Frank Hannon was jamming out, playing slide guitar, creating sounds reminiscent of a revving car engine shifting gears. The band then introduced a new song called “Miles Away” from their latest live album, “Full Throttle.” The song began with Frank skillfully using the wah-wah pedal, creating a dark and heavy atmosphere. A fan-favorite, “Changes,” followed, with clouds displayed on the screen behind the band as they played. Frank Hannon addressed the audience, reflecting on 1986 as a significant year, marking the release of “Mechanical Resonance.”
Next, the band rocked out with “We’re No Good Together.” Singer Jeff Keith delivered an outstanding performance, exuding pure rock-n-roll energy. The atmosphere was electric at Foxwoods, and the ensuing songs, “Sound and Emotion,” showcased the band’s dynamic range. Brian Wheat’s bass reverberated throughout, and Frank’s guitar skills were on full display. A touching tribute to Steve Clark appeared on the screen after one of the songs.
Frank showcased his mastery of the talk box in the following track, and Dave Rude’s dual lead guitar performance was nothing short of amazing. With a remarkable 37 years of rocking under their belts, Tesla brought out the acoustic guitar, and Frank mesmerized the audience with the intro to “Love Will Find a Way.” The night culminated with the band’s performance of “Little Suzi,” leaving the audience in awe. Overall, the show was an incredible experience, brimming with rock-n-roll energy and exceptional musicianship.
