Frank Palangi is an American Rock Musician from New York.

What’s going on in 2013 for Frank Palangi?

Things are going well this year. After releasing my single “I AM READY” in 2012, I went back in the studio with producer Rob Coates again and made the decision to release the “I AM READY EP” that has been doing great. Drummer Lester Estelle from the band “PILLAR” was back on board as well.

This summer gigging at least twice a week. I was picked as a Battle of The Bands winner for the Uproar tour for the Saratoga, NY venue called SPAC and was interviewed by Ernie Ball. I was very excited and played the biggest show to date. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eqlm5kptNeY

“I AM READY” single was nominated in the L.A Music Awards for “BEST ROCK SINGLE”, awaiting results in Nov.

How has the year treated the EP with opportunities?
It’s been opening more doors and opening my senses up to brand new experiences. Local shows, Regional shows, internet radio play, endorsements, boosting social media/press buzz, and management interests.

What’s new for 2014?

I see 2014 as a new experience with new goals constantly working toward growing and expanding on my passion and to keep things fresh and moving. I’m releasing a new single out 2014 sometime and Michael McManus from Saving Abel is on board with drums and myself producing this single. Rob Coates will be mixing the song. My dad is the one that led me toward finishing up this track and taking the leap. It has strong subject matter with relevant issues going on in America today with a symbol that conveys hope. I think more than ever, hope is what people need in this bad economy and political uproar time. I’m looking for record label interest, management, and booking with more national artists for the upcoming year.

Would you say touring now is more relaxed and easier to do?

After booking my own gigs for 5 years now, I’d say it’s easier now because I know more of what to expect and I have good relationships with repeated venues I play. It’s easier to tell whether there’s signs of being scammed or taking advantage of too. Things are going great and there still is excitement. I’ve had the best year yet with income and I’m aiming toward next year to top that growth.

What were your earliest influences in life?

John Carpenter and Brad Fiedel composers from movies like Halloween, Escape from New York to Terminator. Then I was sucked into Metallica, Ozzy, Creed for my first rock bands that I learned guitar riffs from.

What would be some of your main influences today?

Metallica, Creed, Godsmack, Johnny Cash, Three Days Grace, Day of fire, 3 Doors Down, Daughtry.

What could we find interesting in your music collection at home?

That I have actual records! lol Probably to hear that I listen to Goo Goo Dolls (90’s), to Dokken (80’s) to Judas Priest (70’s metal), to Johnny Cash (60’s), to Halestorm (2000’s) to movie soundtracks of horror and sci-fi films. A good mix. No rap, no pop.

Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life as a musician?
I don’t have a 9-5 job. Music is my job. I get to make my own schedule. I wake up around 11/11:30am. Eat, shower and wake up by 1:00PM. It’s different each day something I focus on but radio interviews, working social media, practicing songs for gigs, writing new songs, recording new ideas, emailing bookings/opportunities/getting directions to gigs, packing/maintaining my equipment, talking with fans online, shipping merch items, phone meetings, doing things around town, helping my friends out. Love playing video games, watching horror films and eating again in between. If weekend gigs they are between 8-12PM then bed at 2PMish. During week gigs around 6-8PMish. I don’t drink, don’t party, but I love what I do. It’s my passion, drive and motivation.

Where do you see music going in 50 years from now?

I don’t really know…. even 20 years from now is pushing it. I hope the music we hear isn’t some machine singing and playing instruments 100% and no real human emotion left in music.
