Even The Dead Love A Parade Interview

– What’s new in the world of Even The Dead Love A Parade?

Well we just signed a deal with EMP records. We cracked the top 25 in metal sales on iTunes and we competed with some pretty heavy hitters. On a limited budget we’re pretty stoked on that.

– How was it recording your EP?

Long haha! These tunes have been around for a while. We started this band in 2008. We wanted to have a super simple approach yet keep it as heavy and raw as we could. Unfortunately with our travel schedules and all of us being in the industry it makes things very difficult. But I think that fuels the fire that much more and made the process that much more rewarding.

– When writing a song, is there such a thing as investing too much time?

Absolutely! Sometimes it can be super simple and it just flows…then there are times you hit a wall. For us, because we have been very patient with the tunes it can get complicated. We are rarely in the same place at one time. With our formula we have yet to write as an entire band. Usually, Brax and I lay down the drums in his studio then we wing it from there. That’s our process. I think it’s odd…but I also think it’s one of the things that makes us unique.

Song inspirations, Influences

– What is the strangest inspiration you’ve ever had for a song?

That’s a tough one to answer as a whole. Our lyrics are dark and not for the faint of heart. We’re atheist’s for the most part and sing about fucked up human behavior. I’d have to say serial killers..

– How many shows do you play per year on average, and how crazy does the schedule get?

Well as of right now not real crazy. We’d like for that to change.. wink wink haha…but we’re all busy fathers and businessmen. We’d all love to hop in a van and try to conquer the world…But we also love our kids and families and these days its not an easy business. We’ll continue to do what we do, regardless!

– Could you describe some of your earliest influences in life and in music?

My mother, my friends and music. That’s it. The most important people that influenced me in music had nothing to do with music. They’re still everything in my eyes.

– Without social media could bands today manage to survive?

No. It hurts our hearts. There was a time when being a good band mattered. Now…it doesn’t. You have the right look, and social media garbage pale behind you…you win. Nature of the beast. Again…we’re about METAL.

– In your opinion, which album would be essential to have if someone were stranded on a deserted island?

That’s a tough one…This one is for my mom…Tears For Fears(songs from the big chair) my band guys may hate me for that one haha

– Any words of wisdom to share with aspiring artists?

Ohhhh yeah…but there’s no whiskey here and we’re not face to face haha. So I’m going to let them figure that one out on their own.
