ColdSpell Interview

1. What’s new in the world of Micke ColdSpell?
– Hi Jason, thanks for interest in my little brainchild. Well at the moment I am about to start the massive work once again bringing a new ColdSpell album to the world. Otherwise we have a few shows and a UK tour this fall.

2. How was it recording the album Frozen Paradise for ColdSpell for everyone in the group?
– I think if I speak for all the guys , we had a great time even though we could have had a little more time doin’ it , you know what its like there´s always lack of time no matter how you do, haha. We recorded it step by step so we didn’t actually have that much time together in studio even if I’m involved in all steps.

3. Who’s idea was it for the album cover?
– We had the same guy as did the last album, and we thought Eric Phillip did an awesome job on the Out from the cold album. Eric came up with the idea as we had the title, he sure is a genius when it comes to artwork`s!

4. During a year how many shows do you do on average?
– It depends but over all I can say that we don’t do as much as we wanna do , due to the fact that it sometimes is tough to get the logistics goin’. But I say like 30 shows each year.

5. Could you describe some of your earliest influences?
– Always been a fan of Rainbow, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath so I guess that’s my early influences. Always listen to mainly hard-rock / metal but also have a great fascination for other genres and different kind of guitarists and songwriters.

6. Would you say now is more important then ever to release promo videos for the fans?
– Yeah I agree, it is! Even though record labels seem to think that it ain’t no use spending money on video´s I think it’s even more necessary nowadays, because there are a bunch of great bands out there and without promotion it’s hard to reach out!

7. How many hours a day do you spend on social media and the internet?
– Oh my God, guess it’s too many hours even though it’s necessary these days, it’s a part of the promotion as well. But I won’t complain as I enjoy socializing and it gives me so much feedback and energy, enough to find inspiration to carry on with this baby of mine!

8. What could we find interesting in your music collection at home?
– Well I guess you will find a huge collection of music that includes many different genres , even if the hard-rock / metal is the main part. There´s a lot of the -70’s, -80’s hard-rock with bands like Deep Purple / Thin Lizzy / Black Sabbath / Van Halen / Rainbow / Montrose / Badlands / Ozzy / Whitesnake / Lynch Mob and also the modern metal stuff! But you could also find some U2 / The Police / Allman Brothers / Lynyrd Skynyrd / Stevie Ray Vaughan…….! Guess I also have a bunch of instrumental albums with the likes of Satriani / Vai. Also have a lot of classical music. Not really easy to mention bands and artists guess I could go on forever.

9. Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life as a musician on tour?
– Try to keep my fingers in shape, haha! Guess when being on tour I get in to this socializing mode – love to talk to people , meet new people , cause there’s a bunch of amazing people out there that I’m so blessed to get the chance to meet

10. Where do you see music in general going in 100 years from now?
– Oh that’s not easy to guess what it will be like cause if we keep on doing what we humans do, I’m not sure there will be a planet around in 100 years ;) But let’s hope that we learned a few more things and that are kids are wiser than we are. Guess there always be room for great music and hopefully there’s a bunch out there that knows how to Rock!

It was a pleasure speaking with Micke ColdSpell.
