Apollo Under Fire Interview
– What’s new in the world of Apollo Under Fire?
We are currently working with an agent to get out on tour. We are always writing new music and are looking forward to record album number two.
– How was it recording the debut album and choosing the right singles to release?
Recording the debut record was amazing. A lot of it was put together there in the studio as we recorded it. Working out drum parts and things like that. The song” Gotta Believe” seemed to be the natural first single.
– What is the future of Lyric Videos? Gotta Believe represents very well the lyrics and images?
Thank you. Friend of Jimmy’s did that video and we love what he did with it. Well I think every band is going to have a lyric video regardless. It’s a very economic way to get your music presented with an image without spending a ton of money which new bands do not have.
– Do you consider album artwork as important now that music is mostly downloaded?
I do, very much. When you look at an album cover, it says something about what you’re going to get from the music. That’s my opinion anyway. When Warehouse Records closed down they had a huge sale and I spent days there searching through all the CDs. I bought a bunch of records based on the album cover which turned out to be music that I liked. You didn’t have the option of checking iTunes for the music back then so you went based off the image.
– Vinyl is making a comeback. Do you have a personal preference? Is your band producing on vinyl?
I love Vinyl. I recently got my turntable up and running and was playing Dark Side of The Moon and I loved it. It’s amazing what you hear when it’s so natural. Apollo would love to do vinyl, but it’s not in the cards right now. However, that doesn’t eliminated it from future endeavors
– Do you have any tours coming up in the near future?
Not at the moment but tours are being worked on.
– How important is merchandising? Could artists survive without?
I think merchandise is the survival kit that they need. If you don’t have product (CD) or merchandise (shirts, hats, etc) at your shows than it’s going to be hard survive out there.
– What would be some of your main musical influences today?
I constantly find myself reverting back to the rock bands of the 1970’s
– Where do you see music in general going in 20 years from now?
I truly believe that’s an impossible question to answer. The way technology moves so quickly it’s hard to tell where it’s going to be. I just really couldn’t tell you, but I hope that we go back to buying music so bands can actually make a living out there
