Amber Martinez Interview
1. Q: What are your current projects for 2012?
A: I’m currently working on my debut album, which is projected to be completed this year. My album is very meaningful for me and the songs I wrote are based on prior experiences and emotions. My goal is for the listeners to really be able to connect to the lyrics.
2. Q: How was the process for participating in the Vixens Vol.1 compilation by HRX Records?
A: It went really fast. I auditioned, took about 5 takes on the mic and they mixed it down. They wrote all the lyrics and the score, I just sang it. The only part I was given freedom on was the bridge. So I went for it. I was kinda nervous that day, cause I was just getting over bronchitis and I was still not completely a hundred percent.
3. Q: What are you currently endorsing?
A: I am currently supporting the development of my album right now, as well as the single on Vixen’s Vol. 1 that I am featured on.
4. Q: Amber what’s your take on the sex appeal in the music industry, etc?
A: My take…Well, I think sex appeal is important. From my experience, most people have visual sensory preference. When they like what they see, they are ten times more likely to pay attention to what they hear from that person. I also think that it is perfectly normal to have artists who express their sexuality. There have always been countless paintings throughout history and sculptures exuding sexuality and beauty. So why should the music industry be any different?
5. Q: What’s your vision of the Internet as a tool to promote and get your music out?
A: I have a few Facebooks and a “Like” page. I also have a blog and I am featured on the HRX site. I am currently building a website for my music right now and I am excited to have it up and running soon. It allows me to reach out to more people and attract new fans.
6. Q: How is the current Music Scene in your area doing?
A: It goes really well for techno and those genres. However, rock seems to be fading a bit in California. I think people always need new and fresh. I’m standing right here, ready to breathe new life into rock and take it to the next level. I want to remind people of why they loved rock so much in the first place and make them feel it in their bones again.
7. Q: Could you tell us about your main influences as a singer, etc?
A: well, my main influences come from experiences and emotions I feel. Whenever I come to turning points, crossroads, difficult moments, enlightenment and times of understanding I write it out. I want people to hear my music and say, “I just felt that exact way last week.” or “I’m feeling that same way right now.” Music is very healing and one of my goals is to let people know that whatever situation is going on in their life, that they are not alone. Hopefully, they can come to some understanding through my music.
8. Q: What could we find interesting in your Music collection?
A: All my songs are different. I mean that literally, all of them have a different meaning. The point is to connect to different people and emotions.
9. Q: Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life?
A: I wake up and I have Starbuck’s, the end…Joking lol…Well, a lot are different, I like variety. However, most days consist of one to three hours of meditation, writing lyrics, focusing on my personal goals with my career, working on advancing those goals, and speaking to my grandma. My grandmother is very supportive, she always tells me “Amber, God gave you a voice. Now use it.”
10. Q: Are there any tour dates lined-up for in the near future?
A: The tour dates are being arranged as we speak. I will definitely let you know, as they are confirmed. There is going to be both signing and performance dates. I’m excited for them as well.
11. Q: Are there any more products or projects we can see from you in the future?
A: Yes, actually, I’m already writing the lyrics and scores to my second album right now. I am also currently working on a few duets with a fellow rock artist.
