Odium Interview

1. Could you tell me about the recording of Odium’s album Burning The Bridges To Nowhere?

We recorded the album in Brampton at BWC Studios with Greg Dawson. We always enjoy working with Greg (At The Bottom was also recorded there). We spent about 3 weeks on the recording process and were extremely happy with the outcome.

2. How did the song writing process work?

This is a process that for us differs from song to song. Some songs were brought in from one member as almost finished tracks, where as others were written by multiple members at a time. The one thing in common for every song is that before it’s approved by the band, its arrangement is analyzed by each member.

3. Where did the album title come from?

It was named by Tom and taken from the lyrics of the song of the same name.

4. Are there any tours lineup?

Right now we are planning to play some dates around Quebec/Ontario for a run in late November. Other than that we’ll just be playing weekends while the snow rolls in!

5. What’s your vision of the internet for musicians in the future?

We are strong believers that if put to the correct use, the internet is a very handy network of knowledge. The world of music changed when people were able to access guitar tabs online to learn whatever song they wanted – and today you can literally take a lesson from your idol while sitting in your bedroom. This just goes to show that the internet is a place where musicians have created a welcoming and informative community and it’ll surely just keep getting better.

6. What could we find interesting in your music collection at home?

Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Mr. Bungle, Snoop Dogg

7. What equipment is the band currently endorsing, etc.

We are not currently working with any companies for endorsement.

8. Would you say the health of the Metal scene is becoming stronger worldwide?

The places we play at would definitely suggest it. While out on the road we meet a lot of honest, hardworking individuals who do everything they can to support their local metal scene. Obviously we can’t really speak about other countries as we’ve yet to exit Canada.Odium Burning the Bridges to nowhere

9. What were your earliest influences?

Some of our early influences include Nothingface, Tool, Slipknot, and Pantera.

10. Where do you see Music in 100 years from now?

Who knows what will happen with music, with technology and media being an ever-changing social structure. Trends come and go and genres become more popular because of very random reasons these days so there’s really no way at all to predict that far into the future. All we know is, metal always lives!
