Ave Rose Interview

1. What are your current projects for 2012? I’m continuing to work on songs and music videos with HRX records and the director Brad Cooper. I’ll also be working on a faux-reality series called Bizarro Au Go-Go produced and directed by Jon Schnepp (Metalocalypse).  Bizarro Au Go-Go jas tons of sex, rock n roll, monsters, aliens, and hot babes! Also I want to focus on showing my artwork at galleries. I make miniature robot sculptures out of clockwork and watches.

2. How was the process for participating in the Vixens vol.1 compilation by HRX Records? It was a blast. The folks at HRX Records are real professionals but they are also super fun. It’s an honour to work with such great musicians and producers but at the same time they were so cool each session felt like I was hanging out with friends.

3. What are you currently endorsing? My artwork, my publishing company Ink Pen Mutations Press, my music with HRX Records, and the Bizarro Au Go-Go reality series.

4. Ave what’s your take on the sex appeal in the music industry, etc? It’s important and I love it. We are humans and sex and seduction is a huge part of what drives us. But there can be cheesy empty meaningless sex appeal. Some of that is ok and can be fun, just like the occasional cheesy dance hit.  However, it gets boring and annoying if its all about the trivial and typical sex stuff.

5. What’s your vision of the Internet as a tool to promote and get your music out? It’s great! Back in the day you had to have a big company invest in you and produce stuff that would go the radio or television. Most of the time artist would get in debt. You’re fate wasn’t really in your own hands. You had to hope these companies would make you famous. Now you can make yourself famous. Thanks to YouTube, Vimeo, Internet radio, and iTunes if a person is creative enough and puts in the hard work, they can show the world who they are.

6. How is the current Music Scene in your area doing? I love LA because we have such an involved and diverse music scene. We have a really great underground gothic/industrial scene. Several different night clubs a week that are always packed with freaks and have been going on for years. It’s heaven to me. Or hell, I guess I should say as a vampire queen. Lol. I also love going to the underground electronic music dance scene. Big where houses filled with dancing maniacs from burning man hippies to break-dancers that go till morning are also what make our music scene so rad.

7. Could you tell us about your main influences as a singer, etc?

Always been a fan of Sarah Brightman, Terri Nunn from Berlin, Pat Benatar, Heart, Shikhee from Android Lust.Ave Rose high heels

8. What could we find interesting in your Music collection? It’s just funny because I have a bunch of classical from Bach to Handel but I also have Goblin, Dimmu Borgir, Switchbade Symphony, The Cure, Christian Death, Glitchmob, Square Pusher, and Beats Antique.

9. Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life? I usually do about a million things in a day so it starts out with me waking up and bracing myself. :) I feed my snakes and tarantulas and head upstairs to my art studio/office. I never go to bed. I’m usually up working on stuff tell I fall asleep in the middle of it and I guess I sleepwalk to bed.

10. Are there any tour dates lined-up for in the near future? No specify dates but keep checking HRXRecords.com and averose.com because for sure there will be a tour this year.

11. Are there any more products or projects we can see from you in the near future? I’ll be consistently putting videos up on YouTube channel (inkpenmutations) of all my dance performances, singing performances, and other artistic endeavours. In fact I’ll be dancing for the band KOLM on the Queen Mary Ship March 9th, so expect a video! Shortly after!
