Richard Lynch Interview

– What’s new in the world of Richard Lynch?
My music is being played and heard by many more people than ever in my life because of the efforts of my promoters  Randy Hayford and Michael Stover.  My songs are landing on different charts, being played around the world and even getting some awards that I never expected.

– How was it recording A Better Place?
It was almost surreal to be in that caliber of a studio with those extremely talented musicians and to be produced by a country music icon such as Billy Yates is a dream come true.  And when I hear the recordings I get goose bumps to realize that is my singing produced so professionally by all the fine folks involved.

– How do you build a song up from nothing to become something?
It starts with hearing  the words and melody touching my heart and soul, and then putting my own emotions into it to give the song the life and meaning it deserves, so that the listeners can feel and relate to the song the same way.

– All the equipment and instruments used on stage are mostly the same as the ones used on the albums?
For the most part the instruments used to play the music are the same, the musicians may be different but the studio has the technology in place that may deliver the end result differently.

– Do you have any tours coming up in the near future?
Yes, we have several different gigs in many different areas this year.   We have recently been to Texas, Florida and Alabama.  The end of the month we will be heading to Missouri. Later in the summer and fall we will be in Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee,  Michigan, Missouri again, Iowa and Minnesota as well many local bookings around Ohio.  And we are making plans to book more dates wherever folks want to hear our Real country music.

Influences, Social Media, Future

– Could you describe some of your earliest influences in life and in music?
My earliest influences in life were around a farming way of life, hard work and always country music.  My number one influence was a great country singer, my Dad Woody Lynch.  My other musical influences included country music icons as Keith Whitley, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, Ronnie Milsap, Waylon Jennings to name a few.

– Do you use mostly Facebook now as a primary website source for the band?
I have a robust website that Randy Hayford does a tremendous job keeping up to date with all our music, videos, events and tour dates, www.richardlynchband.com. But Facebook is our number one social media source with over 8000 followers… www.facebook.com/richardlynchband.

– In your opinion, which album would be essential to have if someone were stranded on a deserted island?
Any and all Conway Twitty albums would have to be essential on a deserted island!

– Where do you see music in general going in 100 years from now?
Based on the artists that have impacted my life such as the icons I mentioned…..I see their music still impacting this world in 100 years.   In what form I don’t know with all the technology but their music. The real country music has no expiration date and will live on forever
