What’s new in the world of Negative Sky?

Playing shows, shopping our new record, and writing new material.

How was it filming the music video, “The Dark Unknown”, from start to finish?

It was a long hot day but rewarding after seeing our hard work manifest into something that properly represents the intensity of our music and live experience.

The upcoming album ‘Placid Black’ took how long to create from the ideas to the studio?

Well we polished songs, we had written new material and basically worked each song through pre-production sessions until we were ready for dropping final tracks which was great because we were fortunate to not have time restrictions to allow for these tracks to be the best they could be.

Does the band write music on the road at all?
We write whenever and wherever we are inspired.Without social media, could bands today manage to survive?

You could survive but that would only be locally….it has become the main platform for being exposed on a national and international level and has become an epicenter for music in general….above ground and underground.

Is the band fans of Spotify and similar streaming services? What are your thoughts on this?

It’s great and sucks all at the same time….we are still ….as musicians at the mercy of an industry and culture geared toward an artist getting paid little to nothing when the reality is that music and the ability to create it is far more valuable than that. Anyone can make music but not everyone can make really good or great music….I feel like there is a growing lack of appreciation for the art form.

What would we be surprised to find in your music collection at home?

I would say nothing because I like just about everything, and I don’t feel any guilt for any of it….from The Four Tops to Johnny Cash to Onyx to Deicide to Siouxie And The Banshees back to The Misfits…I love music.

Which notable bands have you shared the stage with throughout the years?

To name a few….Hatebreed, Deftones, Biohazard, Candiria, Clutch, Agnostic Front…i could go on for awhile lol. I feel incredibly honored and fortunate for the opportunities.

Any words of wisdom to share with aspiring artists?

The hardest part of being in a band is keeping it together through good times and bad. A band is a family and you are in it together so it comes down to respect for each other and understanding we are all human….united we will do great things but divided we implode. A band can end at any moment so hang on tight for the ride and enjoy the adventure cause it’s fuckin wild!
