DEVO at Mohegan Sun Arena – August 8, 2026

DEVO brought their unmistakable mix of new wave, punk, electronic music and theatrical performance to the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, appearing as special guests for Billy Idol on the “It’s a Nice Day To… Tour Again!”

Taking the stage ahead of Billy Idol, DEVO delivered a 14-song set packed with material spanning their influential career, including fan favorites “Girl U Want,” “Uncontrollable Urge,” “Freedom of Choice,” and, of course, their signature hit “Whip It.”

DEVO Takes the Stage

More than five decades after their beginnings in Akron, Ohio, DEVO remain one of the most distinctive bands to emerge from the late 1970s new wave movement.

For their Mohegan Sun performance, the band embraced the visual style that has become synonymous with DEVO over the years, including their iconic red Energy Dome hats and yellow stage outfits.

The show opened with “Don’t Shoot (I’m a Man)”, followed by “Peek-A-Boo!” and “Going Under.”

The set then moved into a run of recognizable DEVO classics, including “That’s Good,” “Girl U Want” and their biggest commercial hit, “Whip It.”

Released in 1980 on the album Freedom of Choice, “Whip It” became DEVO’s breakthrough hit and remains one of the defining songs of the early MTV and new wave era.

DEVO Digs Into Their Classic Catalogue

The second half of the performance leaned heavily into DEVO’s early catalogue.

Following “Whip It,” the band performed “Planet Earth” and “Uncontrollable Urge,” before continuing with “Blockhead,” “Mongoloid” and “Jocko Homo.”

Those songs trace back to the band’s formative period and helped establish the quirky, satirical and deliberately unconventional identity that separated DEVO from many of their contemporaries.

The group followed with “Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA” before closing the main portion of the set with “Gates of Steel.”

DEVO then returned for an encore performance of “Freedom of Choice,” the title track from their landmark 1980 album.
