– Let’s talk about a day in the life of a musician in the studio. How do you spend your time in the studio?
I own a recording studio, so most of my days/hours are spent here writing, brainstorming and trying to come up with creative ideas of all kinds.
– How important is artwork for singles or albums?
Artwork is cool, although I thinks it’s taken a back seat in recent years. I personally still love it. I think it sets the initial vibe of why the album or song is about so we do put some good thought into it.
– When writing a song, is there such a thing as investing too much time? What’s the shortest time you ever took to write one? What was your strangest inspiration?
Yea there definitely is such a thing as spending too much time. Although you definitely want to be precise and have every thing thought out at some point you just have to tell yourself to stop overthinking every little detail. Is the hi hat too loud? Is there enough bite in the guitars etc.
The quickest we’ve ever wrote and recorded a finished song was a day and a half for our single called Erased off of the EP Secret Weapons
– Do you follow a formula when you write?
Absolutely not, although we do try to implement some sort of structure.
– How important is merchandising? Could artists survive without?
Merchandise is a lot of the bread and butter for bands.
– What would be some of your main musical influences today?
Stone Temple Pilots, Aerosmith, Steely Dan
– What would we be surprised to find in your music collection at home?
I listen to everything .. literally.
– How important is it for a musician in this generation to spend time on social media?
It is very important!
– With the music industry shutting down presently. How are you dealing with these issues?
