Interview with Pale Mare’s guitarist Eytan Gordon.
How is it going in the life of the band Pale Mare?
It is good and busy! We excited to be going on the road in May!
You will be doing tour dates in the Maritimes and playing Halifax twice May 15th and May 18th. Not everyday bands get to do that play the same city twice in a week.
Yes, we are very lucky to be able to play an all-ages show during the week at Radstorm May 15th and then be hosted as part of the Enemy Designed release show on May 18th. We are stoked to be able to play Halifax twice to two different audiences.
Is this the first time you come to Nova Scotia and the Maritimes?
This is the first time in Pale Mare yes but some of us have played in other bands that have toured the east before (Fatality, Shotgun Cure). We love the east coast and are really happy to be coming back.
How difficult is it to promote your music online with so much competition in the same genre of music?
It’s both easy and hard. There’s lots of competition sure but there are also so many listeners out there who are hungry for new music that cooks. Social media can be a really powerful tool to get your name out there and connect with fans.
In a year how many dates do you usually do?
It really depends. This year we are doing more than we did last year but we have only been playing live for a few years. We are constantly writing and playing live so it just depends on what we get up to. We love playing live and so we’d love to play more.
Any news on a new release?
We have a new EP which we are looking for the right label to work with for release.
Do you have a personal preference for digital music or CDs?
I listen to most of my music via streaming platforms when I am out and about but I personally prefer vinyl records when it comes to purchasing physical music and listening at home. Nothing beats it.
Where do you see the future of music going?
We’re in a really interesting time right now. Due to the internet, streaming apps and social media people consume far more music of far wider variety. These people make their own music too and it really brings together a great blend of interesting influences. I think the future of music is going to be really interesting and I look forward to it.
