Adrenechrome Interview

1. How was it recording Adrenechrome debut EP Hideous Appetites?
It was a lot of fun…we really enjoyed ourselves and working with our producer Darius  he creates such a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere that it really allowed us to create and perform to the best of our abilities and not be intimidated by the situation.

2. Where did the ideas and concepts for this album come from?
Movies, books, everyday life, positive experiences and negative experiences can all be used in making music

3. Any tours coming up in the near future?
A few short runs here in Ontario before the winter hits, but hopefully next spring we rock the full meal deal and run across Canada and back

4. What do you think of promo videos nowadays with everything going on YouTube?
we’ve done our own home videos and promo for a long time, to us its just another fun creative outlet that helps us better reach our audience, so I think its a great thing

5. What do you think of the music industry today and where it is going?
I think its a lot easier to be heard these days, but maybe harder to stand out amongst the crowd. That to me is where good songwriting comes into play, good songs stand the test of time and that seems, to me, the key to success these days, being original and not just a clone of your influences helps too.

6. Would you say the health of the Metal scene is becoming stronger?

was it sick? was it weak? I think the metal scene is always becoming stronger, its always there…in the underground. New generations of fans discover great classic music and pass it on to others, that’s the way the metal scene has always survived.

7. What were your earliest influences?

Metallica, Van Halen, Slayer, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, nofx, Rush…Adrenechrome Hideous Appetites

8. What could we find interesting in your music collection at home?
Dixie Dregs, Joni Mitchell, Louis Armstrong and a lot of Genesis.

9. Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life as a musician on tour?

Sleep, eat, drive, self promote, set up, kick ass, tear down, make friends, have fun…..repeat

10. Without Social Media could bands today manage to survive?
Social media is great but i don’t think its the key element to survival, bands have been doing this for years and some parts these days are harder than others, but I believe a good attitude and a fantastic live show are the keys to longevity and a chance at success.

Well done interview Chris – only wish they would have spelt your last name correctly but no biggy!! Ever since I heard you speak as valedictorian for your Grade 8 class, I knew you had a way with words and could express yourself better than most. I am sure a part of that is absorbed in the music you so passionately love. Keep up the good work and positive attitude!!
