Tad Morose Interview
What’s new in the world of Tad Morose?
A: A lot! Hahaha. 3 new members since the previous album. Our new album, ‘Revenant’ is out soon and we are ready to hit the road again!
How was it recording the new album?
A: Slow. Ha ha ha. We have been trying to get this album out for the last 8 years or so! But due to a lot of line-up changes over the years we have been set back several times. The actual recording took like 3 years or so. Perhaps the downside of having your own recording studios! Ha ha ha. I kind of forgot how many times I have recorded the guitars for this album. You always seem to find new things to add or change too. But it feels unbelievably nice that it is finally done and will soon be released!
Any tour dates in support of Revenant?
A: Not yet. But hopefully that will be settled soon.
What are you currently endorsing, etc.
A: Not much really. Kenneth (guitar) is endorsed by Loj Guitars. A Swedish guitar builder. His custom guitar is ugly as hell! Ha ha ha. But he likes it. Kenneth is also endorsed by Randall. I have a deal with Schecter but I just seem to play on my custom Gibsons anyway. Apart from that, we buy our own gear.
What would be some of the craziest stuff you’ve seen on the road?
A: Now that always falls under the “what goes on the road stays on the road” thing! Ha ha ha. So sorry, that stays with us.
What were your earliest influences in life?
A: Well, Ace Frehley was the reason I picked up the guitar. So I guess that has to be it.
What would be some of your main influences today?
A: Same as it has been for ages really. Black Sabbath, Savatage, King Diamond, Accept, and so on. Still listen to all the good old albums.
What could we find interesting in your music collection at home?
A: Nothing! Ha ha ha. You would only find what you would expect. Boring perhaps, but that´s the way it is.
Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life as a musician?
A: The hardest part is always to organize everything to make it work. Being in a band is pretty much like a family of its own. So imagine trying to make a regular life work with four wifes! Ha ha ha. A lot of re-scheduling things all the time! And yes, sometimes they even behave like kids too. Ha ha ha. Ah, well, I guess I´m no better either so….in fact, it is like 10% playing and 90% of other things on an average day. So you better really love playing.
Where do you see music going in 100 years from now?
A: I have no idea really…. perhaps it will be so totally different from what we are used to so that if we could hear it today we just wouldn´t get it. But I think that at least some people will still listen to good, old heavy metal.
