Frank Palangi Interview

1. How is 2012 going along for Frank Palangi?

The fastest moving, promising, and ongoing networking year yet! With the new rock single “I AM READY” released March 20th on Itunes, Amazon, Emusic, Rhapsody, Loudtrax.com, UNIR1 records and more, it’s been keeping me on my toes. A national radio campaign is the in process as well for the single across the U.S on various stations including 97X.fm 97.1 on your FM Dial in Madison, Wisconsin, HDRN Hosting, EdgeRadio Broadcasting, XChamber Radio, Unir1 Radio, Exit 97.7 WEXT, Q103, KQLN 91.3 FM Hard Rock in the Desert, 7 WAVES, CFJU, STATIC RADIO, WRXV, WSNL, WYSZ, CFJU, THE RADIO ZOO, FUEL RADIO, WIXL, WRXV & WVOF, THE CHRISTIAN ROCK 20, KRNG, CROSSWALK RADI, THE X MUSIC NETWORK, WGNW, WIXL 97XFM and more!

 2. Can you tell me about the process of recording the latest song I am Ready?
Record producer Rob Coates and his team in Nashville, TN recorded this track. I’ve written this material which moves more toward that mainstream audience style and sound. Assisting on the track, former drummer of the rock band Pillar, Lester Estelle. It’s a kick ass rock track with feeling ,raw ambition, and not a cookie cutter formula. Comparable to current mainstream rock, it’s being recorded like the latest Foo Fighters album with that old school feel that gives it that warmth and like your right in the room, listening to the whole band. I executive produced the single as well and proves to be a statement so far in my career. All the instruments were recorded one by one rather than all the performers in one room like I did with Day of Fire for the previous “Frank Palangi EP” release. I actually recorded the vocals here in Clifton Park, NY at the Rock School of Music and sent everything digitally to my producer. Doing it that way was more cost effective this time around. We used SPLAWN electric amps to record the electric guitar, the background electric was a VOX amp direct out recorded on a 1977 Ovation Preacher. A little secret people don’t know is that I recorded the acoustic right in my home studio room…lol  I use Ovation acoustic/electrics.

 3. What are your current endorsements?

Intune Guitar Picks Inc.
Guitar-Cable.com
#Spon by Supercuts.com for their artist program

 4. What’s your vision on the Internet as a tool to promote and market Music?
It’s the life line of an artist for today’s tech world of networking. I do almost everything using social media, emailing and etc. I reach my fans easier and can write to them more on a one on one basis. I wouldn’t have gotten this far without the internet and email.

 5. With all the bands coming out today. Do you keep updated with what comes out online, etc?
Not as much I believe as I should. I stay busy promoting, networking, recording, practicing and everything needed to get there and that eats up a lot of my time. I follow the bands I’m into and buy all their albums. What I like to listen to and what my competition would be are pretty different. I like 80’s metal, and Nu-Metal bands and then other bands like Daughtry, Goo Goo Dolls, Red, Johnny Cash.

6. Has your influences changed in the years?
Yes, from just being influences bands from Metallica, Megadeth, Ozzy, Godsmack, Creed that had their peak when I was young, I have influences from newer bands like Rev Theory, Daughtry, Three Days Grace, Hinder, Red and Black Stone Cherry.

 7. Where do you find inspiration to write music?
Just from picking up the guitar and usually right away a riff or melody will come into my head. Lyrics are usually after the structure of the song is finished. Sometimes it could be just a line or phrase I hear and write down and come back to it. I use past experiences, relationships, family, friends, events, general subjects like fame, losing someone and self determination.

 8. Are there any other products or projects we can see from you in 2012 and in the future?
I’m working on another single track right now called “FROZEN” with the same producer Rob Coates and his team. Lester E. is back on drums and getting the guitarist, Noah Henson, from Pillar as well. Not sure if releasing in 2012 though… we’ll have to see where things go. A full album in the future, 2013/2014, could def. happen as well.
