Adelitas Way Interview with Rick DeJesus.
– For the upcoming album Getaway would you say the band used the same approach in the studio as the last album to get things recorded with a certain sound quality in mind?
We are always trying to grow sonically, but also we are trying to go back to our roots a little with the songwriting, I would say we are trying to find a perfect balance of what got us here and trying new things together
– Cool artwork for the Bad Reputation single. Where did the concept come from?
Where there is smoke there is fire, we have a great team with a great vision, Tony at The Fuel music has really helped us make the visual direction great as well, the album art is very cool to, it was inspired by our lighting tech and guitar player and I took it and ran with it to get one of our coolest album covers to date
– Keeping busy on the road with more tour dates for 2016 means the band is doing great. Does the scheduling ever get exhausting since the band is always working. How do you look at this?
Yes it’s very exhausting, but our fans and the great shows make it worth it, I leave my kids to go and rock so it’s hard but our fans treat us like family out there
– Without social media could bands today manage to survive?
Of course it’s such a small part in the overall nature of the business, songs are most important, there’s so much that goes behind a release is really a massive series of events
– How important are music videos in the industry today? How do they compare to videos from 20 years ago?
I think they are great for the fans and a bad investment for bands
– Do you practice your instrument every day to keep up with current styles and genres?
Yes, I love to sing and write songs I do it often
– When writing songs, is there a certain instrument you prefer for the creative process? Have you always used the same method?
The vocal melody and lyrics have always built the start of our biggest songs, I like to start there
– Do you see a biography being written someday about the experiences you acquired or will acquire in your life?
I think I’ll keep it to myself, my kids will have to wonder and imagine what my crazy life was like. Maybe I’ll tell them when they are older :)
