Legacy Of Disorder Interview

1. Could you tell me about the recording process of the Legacy Of Disorder album Last Man Standing?

Sure..we had demo,d several of the tracks prior to recording the album. The whole album had been written and very well rehearsed well before hitting the studio. Basically we record drums first and then guitar followed by bass guitar and then vocals and then guitar leads and bits and pieces. This time around though after recording all the drum tracks we would then complete guitar, bass and vocals for two or three songs and then start over again so that James our vocalist could rest his voice which worked out well. We pretty much have everything worked out before hand how we are going to work it and we have a great work ethic with Sterling Winfield whom engineers, mixes and co/ produces with us. So all in all the process went very smooth.

2. Where did most of the writing for the Legacy Of Disorder album Last Man Standing happen on the road or at home?
The majority of the music writing is done at home and then brought to the band as we all have to be happy with it. I write a lot of the music so I often bring complete songs otherwise we will kick back and work on something together. With the lyrics myself, James and Jase all contribute and pick certain tracks we would individually like to write to. And as long as the whole band is happy with the lyrics and subject matter it’s a done deal.

3. What is Legacy Of Disorder currently endorsing?
Unfortunately at this stage of the game we have no official endorsements besides our drummer Matt is endorsed by Paiste, Vic Firth and Remo…so please some endorsements would be great.

4. What’s your vision on Social Media as a tool to promote and get your music out to the masses?
In these days and times social media is a must to promote your band…we do our best to push our music anyway possible.

5. How is the current Metal Scene in your area?

In NZ it’s there for sure but I believe more underground than say the U.S and with far far less people but as we are touring the U.S as I’m doing this interview the metal scene is well alive and kicking !!Legacy Of Disorder Last Man Standing

6. Legacy Of Disorder is going on a US Tour with Gwar and Fear Factory. Could you describe how cool this will be?
We are on tour with Gwar at this very time and it is awesome…tonight is the 9th show of the tour so have another 26 shows to go. We are the first band up and been playing to decent crowds and making new fans all the time. Starting circle pits at some shows which is rather cool for a relatively new and opening act band on this tour. I’m sure the Fear Factory tour should be great too. Both the tours are back to back it works out to be 53 shows in like 62 days. We may well keep touring after the Fear Factory tour also.

7. What could we find interesting in your Music collection in 2012?
Well we have a brand new album ‘Last Man Standing’ we have a new digipak version of our debut album on the road with us. We have some new ideas floating around for new tracks so I feel 2012 will be a good year.

8. Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life as a musician?
Well for us on tour we drive anywhere between 5 to 10 hours sometimes more or a very little less in our 37ft RV and trailor do some computer stuff on the way and sleep get to the venue and load in do soundcheck get a bite to eat and play our show then load out and then hang at the merch booth meeting fans and selling merch and then at end of night pack up merch try and get a shower and then head to next destination. Day in, day out there you have it.

9. Are there any products or projects we will see from you in the future?
Of course once we take time off from touring we will write new music towards the next album. There’s not a lot of off time now.

10. Any advice for musicians that are starting in the music industry?
Follow your heart be honest to yourself. If you fake it it shows through and it won’t fly. In reality the metal scene is not for the faint hearted. Work hard as there’s a lot of work for the so called glory….but if you didn’t have a choice and music picked you just go with it. Thanks heaps for the interview and please spread the word about Legacy Of Disorder
