Intronaut Interview with Sacha Dunable guitarist and vocalist for Progressive Metal band from Los Angeles, California. Interview April 29, 2013

How was it recording the Intronaut album Habitual Levitations (Instilling Words with Tones)? It was great! We weren’t as rushed on this recording as we have been during previous recording sessions, so we were really able to take our time with everything in order to get it right.

Where did most of the influences come from for this album?  Our influences come from anywhere and everywhere. This album hasn’t been directly influenced by any specific new music or concept, or anything like that. It’s just the natural next step in the evolution of our band.

Where did the idea come from for naming the album this title Habitual Levitations (Instilling Words with Tones)? The idea for Habitual Levitations came from the four of us brainstorming together in the practice room, where we ourselves habitually levitate…

Intronaut is going to be quite busy this summer, talk about your upcoming tour and who will be supporting you as special guests. What can we expect to see every night? We just got back from our headlining European tour with our good friends The Atlas Moth and Castle, and we will be starting our North American headlining tour on June 1st, which will also feature Scale The Summit and Mouth Of The Architect. We’re really looking forward to playing all our new songs, and the tour is looking like it’s going to kick some serious ass.  So make sure you get out to one of these shows!

Would you say that Social Media is a great way to attract attention towards bringing in new crowds to concerts? Of course. Given the nature of the times we are now living in, it’s pretty much impossible to attract attention toward bands and/or concerts without social media.

What do you think of promo videos and its importance now? I’ve never been a huge fan of promo videos, but I guess they can be important and helpful with getting the word out about upcoming events/releases. And they can be funny, if you’re into that sort of thing, which of course we are!

What could we find interesting/shocking/potentially disturbing in your music collection at home? There’s nothing in my music collection that doesn’t fit at least one of those categorical descriptions.

Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life as a musician? Working a shitty day-job, sitting in traffic for hours, playing music into the night.

Where do you see the future of music going? Especially in the progressive metal scene. I have no idea. But wherever it goes, we’ll be there!

Any words for future musicians? Keep playing that future music.
