Cassidy Mackenzie Interview [2019-02-26]

Interview with Cassidy Mackenzie. On her debut EP, One Look, Cassidy Mackenzie displays a truly unique voice as an artist and storyteller.

Question: What’s new in the world of Cassidy Mackenzie?
A) The release of “Wish” and the future release of my first EP have really taken over my world in the most amazing way. I’ve never done anything like this before so it is super new and exciting. Every step is so surreal and fun, and really life changing.

Question: How much time and energy was put into the recording process for “Wish”? Did you enjoy your studio time?
A) The writing and recording process of “Wish” was quick, intense and one of the best experiences of my life. Ryan Stewart and I wrote it in a day and then finished recording it on another single studio day. The process felt so magical because everything clicked so quickly with the melody, lyrics and track. We both put our everything into the song because we were so passionate about it the whole time we were working.

Question: Will you be releasing a video for the single?
A) There is no video plan yet, but definitely at some point in the future.

Question: Where do you see social media going this year for a musicians such as yourself? Do you see it getting harder to promote and get through the social media barriers?
A) I think social media has brought both amazing and negative new aspects to the music industry. It is way easier to release your music and have it potentially heard, but there is so much out there now that standing out is the real challenge. This year I think musicians will continue to adapt and find new ways to take advantage of it, which I’m looking forward to seeing.

Question: When did you know you wanted to become a R&B, pop singer?
A) I’ve wanted to be a musician since I started playing instruments when I was four, and I was around thirteen when I started writing songs and singing. It was then that I switched over from wanting to be an instrumentalist to wanting to be a writer and singer and pursuing that.

Question: What words of encouragement do you have for the readers that love your music?
A) Try to see the magic in everything you experience. Whether it is extremely positive or super heartbreaking, there’s going to be something beautiful in it. Most moments make for great stories… or songs.
