Bloodbound Interview

1. How was it recording the new Bloodbound album In The name of Metal?

It was great, we once again teamed up with producer Jonas Kjellgren in studio Black Lounge who we worked with on the “Unholy Cross” album. It was a lot easier this time as we knew his routines. We had more time to work on the sound and I think it the best sounding bloodbound album so far.

2. Who’s concept was it for the album cover?

Me and Fredrik came up with the concept. We had a list of ideas that we sent to the artist Mark Wilkinson and he did a great job with the cover.

2. How is life in the studio for Bloodbound?

We spend a lot of time and hard work in writing and arranging the songs, so it’s always fun to be in the studio and see how the album comes to life. It’s kind of the final process and it usually brings out the best in everyone.

4. What do you think of promo videos nowadays with everything going on YouTube?

Youtube is great, people can choose what they want to watch, and you get an instant response from the fans. It’s a good channel to make yourself heard.

5. Any Bloodbound tours soon in promotion of the album?

Yes, we recently signed with Rock The Nation Touring, so we are very excited to go on tour this spring/summer. It looks like it’s going to be quite a few festivals in Europe this summer as well.

6. Would you say the overall scene in music is getting better?

Bloodbound in the name of metal

When it comes to metal I think it’s getting better, people are very diverse these days which is good for the whole genre. But overall I think pop and commercial music is getting worse, it’s all about fashion and money, the music comes second, and you can hear it…

7. What were your earliest influences?

Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Metallica, Accept and Helloween.

8. What could we find interesting in your music collection at home?

I’m actually into Jazz at the moment, I trying to learn more about harmony and music theory, Jazz is perfect for that. There are so many great players, Pat Metheny, Joe Pass, Scott Henderson to name a few.

9. Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life as a musician on tour?

It’s a lot of preparation for the show, you have to practice and warm up and all that stuff. But if there is time over, it’s great to have a walk around and get to know the place you are playing and meet new people.

10. Without Social Media could bands today manage to survive?

I guess you could if you’re already established, but I think it’s a great way to communicate with your fans and spread you music. It has helped us a lot.
