Andrew Farriss Interview – 2021

Andrew Farriss, the songwriter behind Australian supergroup INXS’. He is releasing his debut solo album on March 19th via BMG. The audience will get another look at Farriss’ first country-influenced endeavor. For over two and half decades, he has been calling the land of his cattle and grain farm in Australia home. In country music, he found the kind of storytelling that truly connects with his life.

The album was recorded between Farriss’ Piedmont Station Studio in Australia and Larry Beaird’s Music Group Studio in Nashville, where many of the session takes were recorded live. “We kept it old-school as much as possible,” said Farriss. “During the recordings, we cut the main instrument parts at the same time in the same studio. I’m grateful to all the amazing musicians that performed on my album, especially now I’m performing the songs live, I know we got it right in the first place.”

The set-up like a traditional, old-school vinyl, with the A and B sides, was intentional to the flow of the album. Farriss wanted the recording to be as authentic as possible. Following his two previous singles ‘’Come Midnight’’ (written back when he was writing the ‘’Kick” album for INXS) and ‘’Good Momma Bad’’,  is ‘’Run Baby Run’’ which will be released on March 5th. The song was co-written with Bruce Wallace and Phil Barton.
