Vancouver-based rock band Pigeon Park who are set to release their new single “Sunlight Fading Away” on August 12, 2016. The high-energy single showcases the band’s talents, individually and as a unit, and encompasses their unique sound and ability to seamlessly blend classic and modern rock.Pigeon Park Band

The band teamed up with longtime collaborator, producer Jordan Oorebeek, to create “Sunlight Fading Away”. This single details the difficulties of expressing yourself creatively and/or personally. Pacholok drew from personal experience while writing this song, as it became part of a process of rediscovering his desire to write music.

Since forming in 2008, the band – Nick Weber (vocals), Logan Pacholok (guitar/vocals), Kevin Okabe (guitar), Artur Lepert (bass) and new drummer, Spencer Burr – have solidified themselves as one of Canada’s most dynamic, emerging modern rock acts. The new single signifies a new era for the band as it represents a renewal of the band’s dedication to their craft and the path they’ve chosen going forward. The hard-rocking quintet have extensively toured Canada and have opened for Aerosmith and Slash, The Tea Party, Sam Roberts, Big Wreck, and Scott Weiland.

Pigeon Park Interview

Q: What’s new in the world of Pigeon Park?

A: We just released our brand new single, “Sunlight Fading Away!” We are also working on getting a tour lined up for the fall.

Q: How was it recording the single “Sunlight Fading Away?” Would you say that singles are getting to be more important than albums?

A:  Recording the single was great! We feel like we’ve gotten back to doing music that feels a little more real to us. Doing the single right now versus the album was a good decision for us.  It let us give our audience something to chew on while we keep writing and hopefully put together an album in the future.

Q: What do you believe is the future of lyric videos versus regular promo videos?

A:  Lyric videos seem to be pretty popular. I’m not sure what the future of them hold. Maybe 3D, haha or maybe we’ll have holograms of music videos in our living rooms one day!

Q: Do you consider album artwork as important now that music is mostly downloaded?

A: I look at it like buying a bottle of wine. 80% of people buy wine based on the label. I think it’s super important. It needs to give a vibe that matches the song while catching the listener’s eye.

Q: What social media platform do you use mostly as a primary website source for the band?

A:  I’d say Facebook is probably our number one. We do, however, use all platforms frequently. Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat are all used regularly for us to keep in touch with our fans!

Q: Do you have any tours coming up in the near future?

A:  We are planning on touring in the late fall!

Q: How important is merchandise? Could artists survive without?

A:  It is absolutely crucial for artists to use merchandising to their advantage. With downloading music, all of our revenue comes from playing shows and the merchandise we sell at those shows.

Q: Is the band fans of Spotify and similar streaming services? What are your thoughts on this?

A:  As musicians we have to respect and understand the medium through which our fans find our music. Get with the times as they say. I actually think Spotify is pretty awesome! It seems to be the way things are going so we will definitely adapt and participate!

Q: Where do you see music in general going in 20 years from now?

A:  I think that music that is popular today will not be on top of the charts in 20 years. Music has it’s own way of evolving and people eventually get tired of hearing the same thing. I’m not sure what will take the place of the electronic phase of music we are in now, but I’m interested to see what’s next.
