Josey Milner Interview

1. What’s new in the world of Josey Milner?
As of right now, I’m continuing to play out with my band as well as fixing to get my next single released. I’ve also started my senior year of high school that I’m really looking forward to.

2. Where did the influences come from for the song Not Pretty Enough?
Not Pretty Enough was a song that my manager Michael found. He thought it would be a good one for me to do so he sent it over and I also loved it. So, I went into the studio and did my own version. When I released it, it did so much better than anticipated. I became a spokesperson for Angels and Doves which I’m very humbled about. What I really like about Not Pretty Enough when I released it was how people grabbed a hold of it like I did.

3. Are you keeping busy concerts and tours?
Definitely. I’m pretty much somewhere new every week/weekend.

4. What equipment are you currently endorsing, etc.
I don’t having any music endorsements at the moment. That’s something that we’re starting to look into.

5. Without Social Media could bands and musicians today manage to survive?
I think so, it would just be harder. Music has been around a lot longer that Facebook, or the internet in general. The radio would be your promotion instead of a website. Music promotion would just go back to posters, interviews, and the radio.

6. What were your earliest influences in life?
As far as music influences, it would be artist like Patsy Cline and Hank Williams. The classic artists that made country music what it is today. As far as personal influences, I would probably have to go with my mom or great grandfather/grandmother. My mammaw and pappaw always love(d) hearing me sing and have supported me with my music. My mom is the person that is always there with me. If it wasn’t for her, I don’t know how I could be where I am. She has been my biggest help, critic, best friend, and counselor.

7. What would be some of your main influences today?
My main influences today would definitely be Miranda Lambert. I absolutely love her music and how she is. She’s a real person and doesn’t care what people think about her. Pretty much anyone who has tried this career is who influences me. They tried, and that’s what you have to do. The music industry is a hard one, but you just have to keep going with it and not give up.

8. What could we find interesting in your music collection at home?
I pretty much have a variety of music. I’m not too terribly picky. The largest selection of course is country, but after that, it just varies. I’m a big fan of Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry and P!Nk. I also like Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Journey, Madonna, a lot of other artists. My mom is a big fan of the 80’s, so I pretty much am too.

9. Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life as a musician on tour?
Depends on the days. Haha, if it’s a week day, it would probably consist of going to school for 8 hours, then going to band rehearsal, then coming home for dinner, maybe watching a little bit of TV, then going to bed. Sometimes it’s more hectic or easier, just depends. As far as a weekend, it would be getting ready, going to a show, or shows, then getting home at some early hour that next morning. Just all depends. :]

10. Where do you see music going in 100 years from now?
I don’t expect music to go anywhere, just evolutionizing with the human society. As long as artist keep recording music that people like, then there’s nothing to worry about. After all, music is what makes the world go ’round. :]
