Venrez Interview | Presidential Elections & Sell the Lie Video

Venrez Interview

1. Could you tell me about the latest Venrez promo video Sell the Lie?
I wrote the song a couple years ago to express my disdain for the loss of life of our boys and girls in the armed forces fighting the wars in Afghanistan & Iraq as well as the severe collateral damage done to innocent men, women and children. What i felt was no more than blood for oil and high level corporate greed  We made the original video from live footage of our recent June tour with Alice Cooper.  While i was watching the Presidential debates, and viewing the slamming ads by both the President and the Republican candidate, i felt the song applied strongly to this Presidential election and decided to re edit the video to reflect this.

2. Also with the Venrez album Sell the Lie was it a great time to record it?
We actually recorded the album in May of 2011, even though it was not released until February 2012.  But i think it was a great time to further push the title track “Sell The Lie” with this 2012 Presidential election and the clear selling of lies by both candidates for President.

3. Will there be any tours in support of this album in the near future?
We released the album in February of 2012.  We toured in January/February 2012 with Fuel, and with Alice Cooper and Fuel again this summer.  We are going out for a short run on the West Coast with the band Trapt in late November.

4. What do you think of social media and the way’s it works in Presidential Elections?
I think social media is essential in promoting yourself as an artist.  From what i have seen, social media has been a hotbed of opinion posts for this Election, and i believe a powerful media source.

5. Have you always been involved with Presidential elections subjects?
No i have not.  But this election touches on a big nerve with me as to the lyrics i write and how i feel about being deceived.

6. Do you think now with social media people tend to get more involved in Elections or not?

I think with social media people are getting more involved with everything.  It has changed the world.Venrez band 2012

7. What could we find interesting in your music collection at home? Not sure if it would be interesting or not.  I am old school with what i listen to, so lots of Dylan, Stones, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Doors, and Aerosmith.  But i do listen to classical music a lot and I love Enya to meditate too.

8. Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life?
A normal day is up by 9 am, coffee while i network on social media promoting the band.  Lunch and to the dog park to play Frisbee with my belgian malinois. Afternoons spent writing lyrics and or rehearsing/recording with the band.

9. How is the Music scene in your area today?
I live in Los Angeles and in my opinion the music scene here died around 1993 sadly enough,

10. Any words for future musicians?
Never give up your dreams and never forget to thank your fans and let them know that without them there is no rock n roll.
